girls have bows, boys have crowns
say hello to the very first pure bred cremelos! a huge milestone in the 23-year-old cremelo story. i couldn’t be happier with how unique and adorable they’ve all turned out. their father is bitters (sgch funfetti's 90% cocoa), my reverse cremelo, and their mother is tibbs (ugch funfetti's christmas in newfoundland at szk), szmantha's original cremelo. their pups are currently looking for active show homes.
since both parents carry newfoundland-inspired names (bitters after the old campus pub i used to frequent during uni, and tibbs for tibbs eve, the holiday celebrated here the night before christmas eve), i thought it only fitting to give all the pups names tied to newfoundland cuisine.
bakeapple is named for the sweet golden berry that grows on our bogs, a true local treasure. she was the firstborn bred cremelo so i ended up keeping her.
scoff takes her name from the newfoundland word for a hearty meal. a proper feed that leaves everyone full and happy. it's the perfect name for her as she is very playful and has high nurturing!
brewis comes from “fish and brewis,” the salted cod and hard bread dish, usually topped with scrunchions. simple, salty, and pure comfort food here. he's a very friendly pup who has low independence and throws a lot of poses for the camera.
touton is named for fried bread dough served hot at breakfast, golden and buttery with a drizzle of molasses. i love her fluke black eyes. she's fun-loving and a little clumsy.
figgy duff is our old-fashioned boiled pudding with raisins and spice, rich and homely, a staple at sunday dinners. he has gone to live with szmantha.
jiggs takes her name from “jiggs dinner,” the traditional boiled supper of salt beef, cabbage, root veggies, and pease pudding. nothing says newfoundland quite like it. her favorite food is beef so that is quite fitting!
scrunchion is named for the crispy little pork fat morsels fried up to top fish dishes. they're like bacon bits, but better! she has the highest playfulness of all the pups and is quite silly.
